“Santa Ageda mutilak”, (those born in the same year), the young people who celebrate their 19th birthday that year participate in this event from the eve of the day of Santa Agueda until Carnival Sunday.
On 4 February they visit all the surrounding hamlets and, on the 5 February, they wander the streets of the district, singing and begging for alms.
PILGRIMAGE OF OTALA-ZELAI
Takes place on the second Sunday in May in the oak forest of Otala-Zelai in the ancient parish of Aozaratza.
EVE OF SAN JUAN
The traditional bonfire is lit on 23 June and afterwards the “Santa Ageda mutilak” of the following year raise the traditional poplar tree trunk.
ANDRA MARI JAIAK
These patron saint festivities run from 14 to 17 August, when numerous activities are organised.
FEAST OF SAN MIGUEL
Celebrated on the last weekend in September; the highlight is the ecological agricultural show held on the Saturday.
The “Santa Ageda mutilak” dance the traditional “Txino Dantza” at 12.30 on Carnival Sunday. The celebrations end on Carnival Tuesday with the burial of the “Txino”.
